10 Easy at Home Date Nights
With almost a full year quarantined under our belts, we decided to create a list of our 10 favorite (and easy) stay at home date night ideas! Not to be biassed but we think they are pretty cute dates that you can have at home!
Can you believe we are coming up on 1 year of this “Quarantine Craziness”?! Yes, I had to come up with my own name since search engines and social media block posts if you use the actual words… It’s basically like the “He Who Must Not Be Named” of the blogging world!
We started out by writing down some of the best memories we made over the last year together and then took the “action/event” from those memories and created this list! We had a few runner ups like learning dances together, making pasta from scratch, “travel” to a new place, go through old pictures, and so many more.
So let’s get this started:
1.) The Adventure Challenge
This is one of the first date nights we had at home this year! The Adventure Challenge Book has helped our “date night creativity” soar! Our first date night using the book was to “Roast Marshmallows”!
What is The Adventure Challenge Book? Well, it’s a book that is filled with adventures for you and your significant other to complete! Each “challenge” is hidden and you scratch it off when you want to complete it. There are icons that give you an idea of what you will be doing along with the price point ($0-$50).
It’s all in the fun of being up for an adventure by not knowing what you are going to do together but really it’s about the memories that you are making! What a cute date night at home! 🙂
We partnered up with Adventure Challenge to be able to offer you guys a 10% discount using the discount code: PITCHTOPASSPORT
All you have to do is click this link here and use the promo code PITCHTOPASSPORT to save big!
2.) Solve a Murder Together
Tired of watching Olivia Benson get all the glory solving crimes on the screen? Well, if you’re like us, you want to be a part of the action and Unsolved Case Files does exactly that!
Fun fact, Courtney’s dad is a detective and he is definitely where she gained her investigating skills from! The cool thing about the Unsolved Case Files is that when you think you have solved the 1st step in the case, you check your answer online by checking the box that you believe to be correct. If you are wrong, it tells that you need to go look back at the information again. This is genius! We honestly thought that when we were ready to check our answers that it was going to ruin it but it didn’t at all!
We ordered our Unsolved Case Files from Amazon. They have been pretty popular so we recommend ordering what is in currently available but keeping an eye out as they restock their items!
3.) Wine Tasting
Who doesn’t love an at-home wine tasting?! We honestly do this about once a month. It’s just so easy to execute and we enjoy trying new wines!
Head on down to your local wine store and go grab 3-4 different types of wine. Not familiar with types of wine? No problem! Ask the person working there for help grabbing a few bottles. Make sure to give them a price point and tell them about a wine you really like. This will help them as they are selecting different wines for you.
Don’t want to go somewhere in person to get wine? Not sure what kind of wine you like? Then Winc is where you want to be!
Winc is a wine delivery service that we have used for almost 2 years. When starting out, you will create a “Palate Profile” based on 6 questions they ask to help assess your taste. From there, they will have recommendations of wine in every category for you. This is going to be so helpful as you pick out your wines for your tasting.
As you order more wine, you can rate them! This way you will know your favorites and you can compare new wines to ones you loved!
If you order through this link, you will receive $22 worth of Winc wine! We will also receive a credit for wine. So cheers to you, enjoy!
4.) Create a “Chopped” Dinner Date
Maybe we’ve been watching too much TV while staying home but we’ve turned cooking dinner into our own “Chopped” game show!
Gabriel will grab a vegetable, a spice, a protein, and a “mystery ingredient”. Then, I will whip some kind of dinner up. Now granted, I like to think I know my way around the kitchen but sometimes he has stumped me and we’ve had to look up what to make. No matter what, it’s always been a fun evening!
No worries if this doesn’t sound like something you guys want to do. You can also look up a recipe to one of your favorite meals and cook that together!
5.) Play a Board Game, Video Game, or Complete a Puzzle Together
We’ve done so many versions of this. Like so many but every time turns into a cute date at home
Our favorite game might be Heads Up because it’s on our phone. We can play it on the couch or laying in bed. The convenience of it is probably why we love it so much.
We’ve also done MANY puzzles but this one is our favorite! As far as video games go, we played Mario Party and Wii Golf a few times too.
6.) Live Stream a Concert or DJ Set
We did this almost EVERY night in April 2020! Like seriously…
All you need to do is look up your favorite artist on social media and see if they have anything scheduled. Most artists will be sharing this information to their stories but you can also search Twitch and YouTube for live streams!
If you are crazy as us, feel free to “level up” by purchasing a laser light to really make it feel like you are at the concert. By no means is this a necessity… Gabriel found one for $20 and we have definitely seen the value!
7.) Paint Night / DIY Crafting
This one can be as creative as you want! Feel free to look at Target’s Dollar Aisle or check out Michael’s for some crafting ideas.
Around Halloween, I actually saw these papier-mâché skulls and thought it would be so fun to do together! Boy was I right…
8.) Build a Pillow Fort
A movie night might be your typical stay at home date night but what about building a pillow fort?! The best part about a pillow fort is that you use whatever you have around you to make it! We used the mattress topper from our guest room, extra blankets, a lot of pillows, and we top it off with our fairy lights for mood setting!
Then turn on your favorite tv show or watch a new movie! We’re big fans of any thriller or “thinker” movie… plus romantic comedies… 🙂
Check out our TikTok where we show you how we made our fort!
9.) Have a Photoshoot
This is something I don’t think many people think they can do because they “aren’t professional photographers”.
So what! You don’t need fancy equipment to let your love radiate through the camera…
All you need are some books to stack up on a table to balance your phone, a glass from your kitchen to sit your phone in, or better yet a phone tripod. We recommend this cellphone tripod and this tripod if you have a DSLR, GoPro, or cellphone! We use the tripod that works on all cameras.
Then, head to Pinterest and search for “couple at home poses”. Screenshot or save your favorites to a board. Feel free to use the ones we have below too!
Now turn on some music, pour a glass of wine, dance around a bit, laugh a lot and tag us when you post your pictures! We would love to see what you create!
10.) Plan a “Vacation” for Your Own Home
We have done this a few times and the best part about this is that it really is what you make of it.
Italy, Japan, France, and more. The opportunities and destinations are endless!
We went to Mexico in our living room! I made “boarding passes” with some scrap paper and gave them to him as soon as he got out of the shower. I even grabbed his passport and made him go through security before he could go downstairs! Needless to say, he couldn’t stop laughing at me!
From there we “went to the beach”, had margaritas, and more! You can actually read the rest of that blog post here. We even include a boarding pass template that you can edit for your own adventures!
With so many different options for our stay at home date night ideas, I’m sure we will be adding to this list. In the meantime, comment below your favorite stay at home date night ideas below or share one you are looking forward to doing!
